Weljar

Weljar

Weljar is a project inspired by Slavic times and shamanism, which is full of longing for the closeness of nature and the primordial power inherent in it. We create melancholic music with folk and ambient flavor.

We sang songs as we sowed. We sang songs as we baked bread. We sang songs as we hunted. We sang songs as we celebrated. Songs were sung as we were born and as we were gone. When the day was long and when the night was long. The old songs have been forgotten.

We write new ones.

Writer and polyglot. Linguist by educations, simultaneous interpreter by profession, military history and cultural anthropology fan by sheer passion. The quickest pen – or rather, keyboard – of the Polish fantasy and science-fiction arena. His debut was in 2013, and since then he’s been literally swarming the publisher with a wholesale of a minimum of three books every year. His ever-expanding range of subjects varies from military topics to psychological thrillers, grotesque, thriller, historical fiction and pure-breed, juicy fantasy. Books are literally dripping down his fingers so fast he can’t actually remember how many he’s published already. As if that were not enough, for some time he has been involved in the doings of two gamedev companies: Sylen Studio and Red Square Games, dealing in production of RPG, board and video games based upon his ever broadened, deepened and stretched literary universes. Incomparable speaker and panelist, capable of running a flawless, non-repetitive one-hour-long lecture on virtually any subject – be it the formation of criminal organizations in the early post-Soviet era, back to the siege techniques of Ancient Babylon. First owner, original box and manual included, almost mint condition. A bargain, that’s what he is!

Jacek Komuda

Jacek Komuda

Professional historical writer and a trained historian, fascinated by the most tragic twists and turns of the history of Poland and the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

The author of fourteen historical novels, the most famous of which is the "Self-Devoted" series, about the Polish expedition to Moscow at the beginning of the 17th century. And also the novel "Hubal" telling the story of the legendary Zagoń soldier and cavalry commander, Major Henryk Dobrzański, who did not lay down his arms in September 1939 after losing the war. The next part of the series was "Westerplatte", devoted to the heroic defense of the Military Transit Depot in Gdańsk in the first days of World War II. Another book about September is being prepared - "Wizna", which will soon be published by Fabryka Słów publishing house. It tells the story of the fight fought by the small and lonely soldiers of Captain Władysław Raginis against the overwhelming forces of the German armored corps of General Heinz Guderian in defense of fortified positions on the Biebrza and Narew rivers. Jacek Komuda, above all, pledged fidelity to historical truth, which is why he does not shy away from the brutal, powerful pages of our history. Unlike Sienkiewicz, he prefers to write as a warning rather than to comfort hearts. It resurrects old customs, characters and forgotten places. His heroes are usually politically incorrect people, driven by passions, not paper ideals. The author is one of the few men of letters who participates in real historical reconstructions as a 17th-century Polish hussar, tankman and Lisowczyk, thus learning about the realities of the old battlefield. On Power, his own beloved mare, he crossed half of Poland, a part of Ukraine and an even larger part of the Bieszczady Mountains, together with the Przemyśl Foothills. Fabryka Słów also published novels such as "Banita" - a dark and surprising love story about the love of a nobleman - the riffraff Jacek Dydyński and a beautiful courtesan, as well as "The Wolf's Nest". "Bohun" dedicated to the greatest defeat of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the wars with the Cossacks, "Black Saber" and "Diabeł Łańcucki" taking place in the south-eastern borders of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In turn, "Galleons of War" is a representative of maritime literature showing the battles of the Polish fleet during the times of Sigismund III Vasa. The author's older titles include: Villon: The Name of the Beast (2005) and Villon: Heresiarch (2008); collections of stories about François Villon, a French cursed poet who lived in the 15th century. The story "Dalian, you will be quartered", which recently caused a real storm and fury from the LGBT community, is related to the series of short story collections "Jaksa" and the fantasy novel "Jaksa: The Fiend Follows Me", based on the broadly understood Slavic culture. The author is a regular contributor to our weekly, where he runs the culinary column section: Travels of the Crown Chef, and currently the series: Knights and Brawlers, dedicated to famous Polish and foreign adventurers.
